The 6 running shoes I actually recommend, and who each one is for.

No trends. No hype. Just honest recommendations from someone who actually runs in them.

The Only Running Shoe Guide You Need

The running shoe market is overwhelming right now.

New shoes dropping every month. Higher prices. Lower prices. Carbon plates everywhere. Influencers wearing race shoes for their Tuesday easy run. Run clubs all matching in the same hyped up shoe of the season.

It's a lot. And most of it is noise.

Here's the truth, a more expensive shoe doesn't mean a better shoe for you. Carbon plated shoes on easy runs is one of the worst things you can do for your training. And buying a shoe because it looks good or because everyone at your run club is wearing it? That's how you end up injured.

The right shoe depends on your goals, your running level, your foot type, and what you actually need it for.

I've run in all of these personally, except one which I'll be honest about. Here are the 6 shoes I'd actually put on your feet.

1. Asics Superblast 3

Specs: Weight: 239g | Midsole: FF Blast Plus | Stack: 46.5mm | Drop: 8mm

What it's like: The Superblast 3 features seamless integration of the softest most responsive foam on the market into a robust and stable platform. It feels softer, bouncier, and genuinely fun to run in. Every single run feels good in this shoe, easy days, medium runs, long runs. It just works.

Best for: Easy runs, medium runs, long runs Level: Beginner to Advanced Verdict: One of the best all round daily trainers on the market right now. If you want one shoe that does everything, start here.

2. Asics Megablast

Specs: Weight: 230g | Midsole: FF Turbo | Stack: 45mm | Drop: 8mm

What it's like: The Metablast is for those who want a bit more speed without completely sacrificing comfort. It's slightly faster feeling than the Superblast but less bouncy and less soft underfoot. More solid, more purposeful. A lot of runners love it for that reason, it feels like it means business.

Personally I lean more towards the Superblast for its fun factor. But if you're chasing faster paces and want something that bridges the gap between daily trainer and race day, the Metablast delivers.

Best for: Tempo runs, race day, faster training Level: Intermediate to Advanced Verdict: Great shoe. Just know what you're getting speed over softness.

3. Salomon Aero Glide 4

Specs: Weight: 261g | Midsole: Branded TPU | Stack: 42mm | Drop: 8mm

What it's like: This is one of the most underrated shoes on this list and honestly one of my favorites. The Aero Glide 4 is an update to the already excellent Aero Glide 3, bouncier, more durable, and more versatile. It doesn't get the hype of the other shoes here but it absolutely deserves to be in the conversation.

If you want a true daily trainer that holds up mile after mile without breaking down this is it.

Best for: Daily training, long runs, high mileage weeks Level: Beginner to Advanced Verdict: Highly underrated. Buy it before everyone else figures it out.

4. Adidas Evo SL

Specs: Weight: 224g | Midsole: Lightstike Pro | Stack: 39mm | Drop: 6.5mm

What it's like: I'll be straight with you this is my least favorite shoe on this list. Personally it's not for me. But many runners genuinely love it and I understand why. It's one of the best value shoes on the market right now at its price point.

Runners with high arches and a high instep particularly appreciate the roomy voluminous upper. Lightweight, affordable, and gets the job done.

Best for: Budget conscious runners, high arch feet, easy to moderate runs Level: Beginner to Intermediate Verdict: Not my personal pick but solid value. If you're on a budget or have high arches worth trying.

5. Nike Vomero Plus

Specs: Weight: 289g | Midsole: ZoomX Foam | Stack: 45mm | Drop: 10mm

What it's like: My personal favorite shoe on this entire list. Full stop.

The Vomero Plus has been my go-to for the past year and it hasn't let me down once. Easy runs, medium runs, long runs, it handles everything. I've even walked in it. It's that comfortable.

If you want a shoe you can rack up serious mileage in without your legs paying for it, this is the one. It just keeps going and so do you.

Best for: Easy runs, long runs, high mileage, everyday wear Level: Beginner to Advanced Verdict: The best all round running shoe I've worn. My number one recommendation.

6. Puma Magmax

Specs: Weight: 286g | Midsole: Nitro Foam | Stack: 46mm | Drop: 8mm

What it's like: Full honesty, I haven't run in this one yet. It's been on my list for a while and I genuinely don't know why I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

But everything I'm hearing from runners I trust and friends who've put miles on it points to the same thing, super cushioned, super functional, and genuinely impressive for the price. Strong reviews across the board.

When I get my hands on a pair I'll give you the full honest breakdown. For now it's on my radar and it should be on yours too.

Best for: High cushion lovers, easy runs, long runs Level: Beginner to Intermediate Verdict: Highly anticipated. Watch this space.

I did it for years. Here's what I actually think. The Truth About Intermittent Fasting Intermittent fasting has been one of the most talked about diet strategies for the past decade. 16/8. 18/6. OMAD. Every variation has its devoted followers swearing it changed their life, fixed their gut, melted their fat, and gave them superhuman mental clarity. I was one of those people. I practiced intermittent fasting seriously for years. Tried everything. The strict 16 hour fast, the 8 hour eating...

The honest truth from someone who actually does it. Cold Exposure - What Actually Works and What's Overhyped Let me say something that might upset a few people. Cold plunges are overhyped. There. I said it. Wim Hof. Andrew Huberman. Every wellness influencer with a chest freezer full of ice posting their morning plunge at 5am. The cold exposure industry has exploded into a multi billion dollar business selling you the idea that freezing yourself daily is the secret to peak performance,...

The Most Underrated Week in Your Training The Most Underrated Week in Your Training. Why a deload week might be the smartest thing you do this month. I've had every injury you can think of. Tendonitis. Inflammation. Overuse injuries from pushing my body way past what it needed. For years I thought rest was weakness. I thought more was always better. I was wrong. Now after over 15 years of coaching and competing I plan my deload weeks deliberately. Sometimes I take two in a row. And every time...
